How To Remove Rear Motorcycle Tire Shaft Drive

The rear motorcycle tire shaft drive is an integral part of keeping a bike running smoothly and efficiently. Unfortunately, it can also be one of the more intimidating pieces of maintenance for a novice rider. With just a few basic tools and some know-how, though, anyone can learn how to safely remove a rear motorcycle tire shaft drive.

To begin, the rider should make sure their bike is securely parked on a flat, level surface and the engine is completely off. Next, they should loosen and remove the bolts that hold the rear wheel and tire in place. For those with a shaft drive, there will be additional bolts and screws holding the drive in place. The rider should also disconnect any cables or wires connected to the drive and then carefully lift the entire drive away from the bike frame.

Now, the rider must inspect the drive for any signs of rust, corrosion, or wear and tear. If any damage is detected, the rider should replace the drive before proceeding. If everything looks good, the rider can now reattach the drive to the bike frame, making sure all bolts and screws are securely fastened. Finally, the rider should reconnect any cables or wires and remount the rear wheel and tire.

Once done, the rider should take their bike out for a test ride to check if the rear motorcycle tire shaft drive is operating correctly. By following these simple steps, even a novice rider can quickly and easily remove and reinstall a rear motorcycle tire shaft drive. A little know-how and the right tools can go a long way towards keeping your bike running smoothly and efficiently.
