Illinois State University offers a Motorcycle Safety Course that is designed to teach students the basics of safely operating a motorcycle. The course covers everything from basic riding techniques to advanced riding techniques and safety tips. It is open to all students and members of the community, regardless of their age or experience level.
The course consists of both classroom instruction and hands-on experience with an instructor. Students will learn about proper equipment and clothing, safety gear, and the rules of the road. The instructor will also discuss highway safety, what to do in an emergency situation, and how to properly use signals. The class culminates with a ride around the city, where each student will have the chance to test their skills in a safe and controlled environment.
At the end of the course, participants can receive a certificate of completion that is recognized by the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles, which is required for all motorcyclists. This certification can be used to apply for motorcycle insurance discounts and has been known to reduce insurance rates. Overall, the Motorcycle Safety course provides those interested in riding with the knowledge and confidence needed to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist.
